Another Victory by G-Drive Racing

For two years now, Gusevo Valve Plant Gusar LLC has been a sponsor of the Russian G-Drive Racing team at the World Endurance Championship FIAWEC. The new sports season for the team started with a success when the G-Drive Racing team won FIAWEC’s first stage in the LMP2 class, held on Saturday in Spa on the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Belgian Ardennes.
As part of Crew 26 driving the prototype ORECA 07, the former F1 pilot and the leader of the current season of the electrical Formula E Jean-Eric Vergne raced for the first time together with Roman Rusinov and Andrea Pizzitola.
In the qualification race, the G-Drive Racing pilots came second in the class LMP2. But from the start of the race, Roman Rusinov seized the leadership. In the first stretch, there was strong competition, and the rivals managed to take for a while the leadership away from the orange prototype. However, G-Drive Racing quickly reclaimed the first line, retaining the lead to the finish of the six-hour race.
The Russian team was the best in the class LMP2 on the legendary track in Spa for the second consecutive year. This victory was the 17th for G-Drive Racing at the World Championship — this is a new record at FIAWEC.
G-Drive Racing took part in the first stage of FIAWEC in preparation for the year’s central event — Le Mans 24 to be held in mid-June. Before that, the Russian G-Drive Racing team will take part in another race. On May 13, two of its crews will compete in the second stage of the ELMS series in Monza, Italy.
